Naif style

Even though the Naif technique is used in the Caribbean islands, its roots are much stronger in artists from Haiti.

This style is described as the production of pieces by people with no artistic instruction (also known as "Sunday painters"), who are naif, instinctive, or autodidacts. In fact, they just let their imagination fly in front of the fabric without taking into account basic art concepts like perspective, proportions, chromatic scale, balance, or  "chiaroscuro" (use of light and dark to achieve a heightened illusion of depth).
